Kid's Entertainment Extravaganza
The HK Recreation Department has booked some funtastic shows. Tickets are $2 and will be sold at the door. Children enrolled in our summer camp that week will be attending the show free of charge. All shows are at the HK HS Auditorium.
Bubble-Mania - Wednesday, July 9th from 10:00 - 10:45 am
Casey Carle provides an extremely unique program combining high energy entertainment with artistic achievement. BubbleMania is loaded with visual comedy, quick wit, big band swing music and the untamed, often unbelievable qualities and beauty of spherical liquids. Casey's creations grow from intricate and imaginative bubble artforms to "trapping" people inside bubbles! This show is geared to participants ages 5 - Adult.
World Class Frisbee Show - Wednesday, July 23rd from 10 - 10:45 am
World Frisbee Champion Todd Brodeur will dazzle us with everything you need to know about frisbees. He will show easy tricks and catches as well as more difficult moves and combinations. A brief history of how frisbees got their name will also be talked about.
Motion 360 - Wednesday, July 30th from 10 - 10:55 am
Motion 360 is a fast paced physical tour-de-force in dance theater. Using objects that range from the specialized (stilts and masks), to the ordinary (roller blades and chairs), Tim Latta demonstrates how we can literally stumble over everyday objects to unlock our creativity. Motion 360 is designed to inspire young people to explore their own potential. This is a one man show that is powerful, hilarious, touching, awe-inspiring, magical and entertaining.
Fitness Yoga
Journey through a mind/body class. Gain flexibility and balance through a combination of yoga and pilates movements. Strengthen and energize as you reduce stress. A great class for beginners. Please bring a towel & yoga mat.Who: High School - Adult

Tennis Fundamentals
Tennis is a game that has been played for many years and is a sport that you can enjoy your whole life. Participants will learn the fundamentals of tennis such as the forehand, backhand, volley, lobs, and the serve. Basic playing strategies will also be discussed. Coach Pakus was the USTA - New England Region 2003 High School Coach of the Year. Please bring a racquet, water, and wear sneakers. Don't forget to put sunscreen on before class.Who: Ages 8 - Adult

Picnic Kits
The HK Recreation Dept. will assemble picnic kits for residents. Kits may include: portable volleyball net/ball, softball equipment, pillo-polo, frisbees, coolers, whiffle ball equipment, etc. Kits are FREE, but a $15 refundable deposit is required. Please call 345-8334 in advance to reserve your kit.
Pre-Season Aerobics

Canine Encounters - Dog Obedience
Learn how to teach your dog. Classes provide socialization in a group setting and enhances the relationship between owner & dog through a partnership which is developed during training. Communication, positive reinforcement, repetition, consistency, and timing are combined to establish bonding and skills. The basic commands such as sit, stay/wait, down, heel, the recall (come when called), and stand will be taught in a positive and fun atmosphere. The goal is not a controlled pet, but rather a well mannered, enjoyable, and loved companion. The 1st class is on theory & is for owners only.Meets: Thursdays

Intermediate Golf
Do you want to step up your game? This class is designed for those who have taken lessons before and want to take their game to the next level. Instruction includes full swing, short game, course strategy, rules and etiquette, and on-course coaching. The final class will be held at the Minor Hills Course (Par 3) in Middletown. (There will be an additional $12 fee for the Golf Course). Please bring clubs.

CT Basic Boat Course
This D.E.P. course includes instruction in legal requirements, navigation rules, safety afloat and other topics that will help participants become knowledgeable and safe boaters. Students passing this course will satisfy the requirements for the CT Safe Boating Certificate and Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation.

Kayaking Workshops
Quick Start Kayaking is designed to teach or refine basic strokes necessary for competent paddling, including bracing high and low, sculling, sweep, & draw strokes.
