Tiny Hawks Sports Camp

he essentials of soccer and basketball are introduced in a fun and safe environment with lots of encouragement. Campers must be between 42 and 48 months of age and toilet trained in order to participate. Children will learn balance, body movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development through a series of sport-specific games tailored to their attention spans. Our staff are trained to handle the specific needs of these young athletes. Participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 8:1. Please bring water, sneakers, & wear sunscreen. Includes a t-shirt and a merit award.

Dinosaur Discovery
Become a Paleontologist! Designed to give your child a hands-on experience while learning about dinosaurs. Students will use computer technology combined with fun games and crafts and even go on a fossil dig.

Gymnastics Camp
Students will be introduced to basic floor tumbling as well as some apparatus use. Participants will work on front rolls, back rolls, cartwheels, handstands and bridges. Older campers will be introduced to round-offs, limbers and handsprings. Students will learn to walk front and back on the balance beam as well as hops, skips and little jumps; work on the low-rail bar and learn squats and straddles on the vault.Who: Boy and girls ages 3 - 10

Karate Kids
Children will have the opportunity to meet friends and build self-esteem while learning the meaning of self-respect, respect for others, self-discipline, concentration, and self-control. Students will be introduced to Washin-Ryu Karate-Do, a unique form of traditional Japanese Karate.

Curious Creatures
Children will learn and get to see a variety of exotic animals such as a tarantula, scorpion, tree frog, baby alligator, chinchilla, and a hedgehog. There will also be a variety of lizards including a dragon, iguana, skink and gecko as well as a variety of snakes including a python and a boa constrictor. The presentation is hands-on, interactive, educational and entertaining.

This horseback riding class will cover grooming, saddling, riding, safety skills, as well as fun games. Lessons are geared for the novice rider, but students with experience are welcome too. Babysitter's Training Program
Learn how to become a safe and responsible babysitter! Basic Child Care, First Aid, and injury prevention as well as other important topics to prepare young adults for babysitting will be discussed. An excellent opportunity to help build self-confidence as well as job leadership and decision-making skills. Upon completion, students will have the opportunity to add their names to the HK Rec. Dept.s Babysitting Referral List. Fee includes a Red Cross Babysitting Manual & certificate.Who: Students ages 11 - 15

Archery
Archery teaches patience, concentration and attention to detail. Being an individual sport, children will learn and have fun at their own pace. Safety and proper technique will be emphasized. Crossroads Driving School
Required by State Law! Parent/Student Orientation: All parents of students who are under the age of 18 and student drivers must attend orientation on July 12th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the HK HS Seminar Room. Students will not receive a certificate unless they, as well as at least one parent, attend this 2-hr. class. Students must attend all classes - if you miss a morning class, then attend the evening instead. Play-Well LEGOTM Engineering
I: Pre-Engineering (ages 5-6) - usng LEGOS TM, kids will create, play, and learn. Build a town, city, or star base with houses, buildings, pyramids, bridges, tunnels, towers, and more. Build motorized cars, trains, buses and trucks; race them, crash them, repair them. Explore the many possibilities of LEGOTM building systems while learning useful construction techniques.
II: Engineering FUNdamentals (ages 7-9) - using LEGOTM kids will explore concepts in physics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering and architecture while playing with your favorite creations. Learn how to design and build motorized machines, catapults, demolition derby cars, trucks and suspension bridges, buildings and other constructions. Each session will include directed projects with instruction, performance-oriented projects with guidance, and free-building time to construct that "really great project" with huge quantities of LEGOSTM. This is a fun, challenging, hands-on, and minds-on camp suitable for LEGOTM novices to "maniacs." Returning students will work on new projects and challenges.
